I learnt to ski when I was 32, yes that's right -32! But I've definitely made up for lost time as I have lived and worked in a ski resort for the last 9 winter seasons, and will be going back for No. 10 this coming winter.

After a tentative start on skis, having to battle the fear factor of learning to ski as an adult, getting used to feeling restricted by wearing so many clothes (as I was previously a swimmer), feeling self-conscious, out of control (especially on T-bars) and many other emotions, I gradually came to like it!

Many hours of practice since in my case does not make me a perfect skier but I can do it, I enjoy it and every year gets better and better. I'm growing in confidence, attacking powder runs, have completed a challenging ski race several times, have tried ski touring and even had a job where I had to ski around the mountain, something I never thought was possible all those years ago.

Now I love to ski with my friends and family and all that skiing has to offer, blue skies, fresh mountain air, fantastic scenery, lots of laughter and so much more on and off the piste. I have many special memories of my skiing journey from complete beginner to where I am now and I'm looking forward to what I can learn this winter. You never know, I might even start to like T-bars... but I doubt it!

In the summer, Jo lives in the Italian South Tyrolwith her partner, Egon and lead biking tours through the beautiful landscapes surrounding Meran and beyond. We look forward to visiting them this summer!
