Trail Fit Club FAQs

1. Do I need a basic level of fitness?

Our Trail Fit Club is open to all levels of fitness. Through the circuit training programme you can push yourself as much as you want to!

2. What about the hikes?

We will gradually build up the difficulty levels of the hikes. In the first two hikes we focus on building up stamina and elevation gain and in September we head higher with greater elevation gain.

3. What equipment do I need?

For the circuit training you will need:

- indoor sports shoes

- sports T-shirt & trousers/ shorts

- water

- towel

There are shower facilities if you wish to shower after the workout.

We will talk through hiking gear and give you a full list at our first session on 11th April. Most importantly for the hikes in June you will need the following:

- sturdy walking boots with good ankle support and profile on sole (waterproof)

- waterproof jacket and trousers

- rucksack (approx 30l)

- hut sleeping bag/ sleeping bag liner

- walking poles (optional)

4. Does it matter if I miss a fitness session or a hike?

Obviously, your participation in the fitness training and hikes are aimed at building up your strength and fitness for the final hike in June. However, we understand that sometimes other things come up and there is flexibility if for any reason you can't make all sessions. If you have any concerns or questions, please talk with us- we are here to support!

5. What is included in the weekend trip?

The weekend hut tour includes the guided tour, accommodation in the mountain hut & evening meal.

6. What is the accommodation like for the weekend hut tour?

We stay in an Alpine hut in the stunning alpine area of the Allgäu. It means accommodation is fairly basic, but all clean and with hearty food and great mountain atmopshere.

7. Will tours go ahead in all weather conditions?

We believe in the principle "there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing" and will undertake tours in almost all weather conditions- we will discuss how we can prepare for these in the training hikes. Depending on certain weather conditions, we may change the tour destination and will communicate this with you.

7. How do we get to the tours?

As far as possible we try to travel using public transport- this is relaxing for everyone and also less impact on the environment. Normally we can travel using the Bayern ticket- so factor in €10-12 each. For some tours where this isn't possible or convenient we will car pool- splitting the fuel costs.
